1ST QUARTERLY MEETING SET FOR WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 15
We will hold our first quarter meeting on Wednesday, January 15, at 6:00 pm in the North Highlands-Antelope library's community room, 4235 Antelope Rd., Antelope.
There are a lot of important topics to be discussed: library programs and projects to be funded, the winter book sale in February, volunteers to visit first grade classrooms to distribute free books (Book First program), and the annual spring tea fundraiser. We will determine the theme and identify possible speakers at this meeting. Election of 2020 officers will also take place.
So, bring your good ideas and your love for our library, and you can help make 2020 the best year yet for our library community.
This is a dinner meeting, and the entree will be provided (Deb is going to surprise us). Bring a side, a dessert or a beverage to share, and please RSVP to ensure there is enough food.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE FOR BOOK FIRST
Our Youth Services Librarian, Denise Lee, is busy setting up Book First visits for 20 schools in the North Highlands-Antelope community. At each school, Denise, accompanied by a Friend of the Library, brings a free book for all the first-graders, tells the students a bit about our library, and lets the kids select their own “forever” book, which is a heart-warming exercise.
These are the eligible schools for 2020:

NEW BOOK SALE FORMAT TO BE LAUNCHED
Our next big book sale is set for February 8-9. We are returning to a two day sale in February. Set up will begin on Friday, February 7 around noon. If you can spare an hour or two, come help us get books on the tables for our sale. The sale will take place on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am until noon. The pace of book donations has been slower than normal, so we will not have a bag sale during this cycle.
Come volunteer for a shift, select a free book for your efforts, enjoy some homemade treats, and meet a bunch of great Friends! Contact Charlyne Nichols if you want to volunteer, charlynenichols@yahoo.com.
Our first pop-up sale in front of the library is scheduled for March 5, weather permitting.
